Important: what AEO consultancy is — and is not
The AEO authorisation is issued solely by the customs authority, after an audit of your company. Medrom and ROUBROKER prepare you for that audit — we do not "certify" and cannot guarantee the outcome. What we can guarantee is that you enter the process knowing exactly where you stand against the criteria, with the documentation in order.
Types of authorisation
- AEOC (customs simplifications) — for companies wanting easier access to simplified procedures and fewer documentary and physical controls.
- AEOS (security and safety) — for companies in the international supply chain; brings facilitations at entry/exit formalities and mutual recognition with partner countries.
- AEOC + AEOS (combined, formerly "AEOF") — both sets of benefits.
How the preparation works
- Initial assessment — we discuss your activity, customs flows, compliance history and which type of authorisation makes sense.
- Gap analysis — we go through the criteria (compliance, records, solvency, professional competence, security) and flag what is missing.
- Documentation — the self-assessment questionnaire, internal procedures, description of flows and controls, security plan where applicable.
- Application and audit — we accompany you in the relationship with the customs authority during the evaluation.
- Maintenance — the status is monitored continuously; we help you keep procedures up to date and report relevant changes.
Is it worth it for your company?
Usually yes, if you have recurring customs operations, want simplified procedures (clearance at your premises, entry in the declarant's records) or your international partners ask for the status. If you make a handful of imports a year, the effort may not be justified — we tell you openly after the initial assessment.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to obtain AEO status?
Internal preparation depends on how well your processes are already documented; evaluation by the customs authority has legal time limits of the order of months. We set a realistic timeline after the initial assessment.
Does Medrom issue the AEO certificate?
No. The authorisation is issued only by the customs authority. We and ROUBROKER prepare you for the audit.
Is Medrom an AEO?
Yes, Medrom Logistics operates as an authorised economic operator — which is why we know the process from the inside.
